St. Paul Family Dental Centre opened its doors in 1989, with a mission to provide the highest level of dental care for the community with a comfortable family focused atmosphere. We like to think of our patients as family, and over the years we’ve watched our patients grow up and start families of their own.

All of our experienced staff are dedicated to making you feel at home when you visit our clinic for your oral care. We pride ourselves on playing a role in the community we serve and value you as much as we do our own families.

Meet The Team

Dr. Chris Legare

General Dentist

Dr. Legare was born and raised in sunny Medicine Hat until he moved to Edmonton in 2004. After graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree, Dr. Legare moved to Cork, Ireland to drink Guinness, travel around Europe, and study dentistry at the University College Cork.

Since 2013, Dr. Legare has called St Paul home with his wife, Janine. They have also recently welcomed their second child, Thomas, into the world, whom big brother Mitchell adores.

Dr. Legare and Janine enjoy travelling and being outdoors – whether on a trail or in the boat. He looks forward to supporting your family and helping you meet your dental needs.

Dr. Kristen Desranleau

General Dentist

Dr. Kristen Desranleau earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Alberta (Immunology and Infection, in addition to Medical Laboratory Science). She then went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Desranleau is passionate about the technical aspect of dentistry, and equally enjoys engaging with her patients and providing individualized, quality care – particularly when seeing the direct results of her work (smiling faces!).

She enjoys traveling, fishing, golfing, a Disney movie or two, and spending time with her family.
She is proud to call St. Paul her new home.

Dr. Jazz Smyl Joly

General Dentist

Born and raised in St. Paul, Alberta, Dr. Jazz Smyl Joly is a graduate of the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program at Western University in London, ON. Following her graduation,

Dr. Smyl Joly worked at London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Centre in London, ON before returning to St. Paul with her fiancé and their Siberian Husky.

Dr. Smyl Joly is passionate about her patients’ oral and general health and strives to create a warm and welcoming environment for all her patients. She enjoys spending time getting to know her patients to further understand their oral health needs to create tailored treatment plans.

Infection Control Methods & Technology

The health and safety of our patients is our #1 priority. We go above and beyond to provide stellar oral care and ensure that our instruments and operatories are disinfected and sterilized according to the CDSA and CDC guidelines.

Sterilization is a complex process requiring specialized equipment, adequate space, qualified staff and regular monitoring for quality assurance.

We package and seal our instruments then sterilize them in an autoclave using steam under pressure. Biological indicators are used on a daily basis to ensure proper sterilization has been achieved.

Monitors/TVs

There’s no room for guess work! We want to ensure that you have all the information you need to make informed and educated decisions about you and your family’s oral health. That’s why we provide monitors in every exam and hygiene room. When your doctor is explaining your treatment plan, you’ve got all the facts, backed up by visuals.

Digital X-Rays

We use digital x-ray technology. Not only do the clarity of the images result in a more accurate diagnosis than your typical x-ray, but the images are produced instantly, enabling us to make quicker treatment recommendations. Digital x-rays produce 80% less radiation than your typical x-ray machine!
