Veneers

Everyone likes a dazzling, bright, Hollywood smile!

Why veneers may be your option

Porcelain veneers are a great alternative for remedying dull, discoloured, misshapen, chipped or crooked teeth. Made of thin layers of porcelain or composite resin, veneers are laid over the outside of your teeth to improve upon their appearance. The veneers process is used in order to achieve the most natural outcome.

Very similar to bonding, veneers are prepared in almost the same manner, however, porcelain veneers require more attention. After a mold is created to custom-make your veneers, a temporary veneer is put in place until your new ones are ready. Be mindful of them, as they are very fragile and are only there for a brief time. Upon your next visit, your doctor will remove the temporary veneers and replace them with your new permanent ones. He will then proceed with the veneer application, using a conditioning liquid to acquire a rough surface for better adhesion. The porcelain veneers are then glued to your teeth with composite resin cement.

How many veneers do I need?

The amount of veneers needed depends upon how many teeth you need to be repaired. Porcelain veneers can be used to restore one or multiple teeth, with the end goal of improving the appearance of your entire smile. Part of the veneer process often includes having a wax model of your smile fabricated at the lab so that you can see what your smile will look like before and after the procedure begins.

Aftercare for veneers

Veneers are subject to daily oral care just like your natural teeth. Be vigilant with your oral health care and be careful with biting into certain foods and hard objects. The end result of the veneer procedure looks similar to your natural tooth enamel, helping you get closer to the improved look you desire.

To protect your new veneers, you’ll be instructed to wear your night guard at home, brush and floss gently, and keep up with your individualized, regular hygiene program.
